The story

Luca, who initially studied the arts in Napoli, made a bold shift to the culinary world, inspired by his grandmother Lilina’s profound love for cooking. Under Lilina’s guidance, Luca mastered the secrets of traditional Italian recipes, which would later become the foundation for his culinary journey.

His experience in various restaurants as both a cook and head bartender honed his skills, setting the stage for his return to his roots after a decade-long detour into the corporate world of international offices to understand Dutch legislation and professional structures.

Culinary Roots

Upon returning to his culinary roots, Luca teamed up with Ennio, an engineer-turned-chef who inherited culinary wisdom from his mother Nunzia and Luca. Ennio, driven by a passion for preserving traditional recipes, launched the cooking blog “fragolaelettrica.com,” where he shared cherished family recipes from nonna Lilina. In 2018, Luca’s vision materialized, and Primo Restaurant was born, marking a culinary haven that would capture the essence of authentic Italian dining in the Netherlands.

The dynamic duo didn’t stop there. In 2019, Luca and Ennio extended their culinary empire with the opening of a cozy delicatessen shop, creating a space where Dutch residents could either recreate cherished Italian dishes at home or savour them on-site. This establishment aimed to bring the warmth of Italian kitchens to Dutch households.

Ennio, fueled by a sweet tooth and a passion for pastries, has now ventured into a new realm with “The LAB.” Collaborating with Gino Del Monte, an accomplished Italian pastry chef, they’re set to realize their sweet dreams. Gino, with a career marked by appearances on Bake Off Italia and collaborations with leading pastry companies, is not just a master of conventional pastries but also a trailblazer in the world of plant-based creations. As a vegetarian and vegan advocate, Gino incorporates plant-based recipes into his repertoire, ensuring inclusivity and cruelty-free indulgence.
